The Jerra’s multi-million-dollar transformation has caught the industry’s eye, with Australian Hotelier taking a look inside the newly renovated Jerrabomberra pub. The feature explores how Harvest Hospitality has reimagined the pub, now back under the name locals have always called it, to better serve a growing community with plenty of young families.
As the town’s local, The Jerra needs to be a lot of things at once, so before any work began the Harvest team spent time listening to customers and understanding how the pub was being used. “This is Jerrabomberra’s only pub, and there’s a responsibility that comes with that,” said Fraser Haughton, Harvest Hospitality Co-founder and Chief Development Officer.
Publican James Catlin said locals had made it clear they wanted somewhere the whole family could enjoy, and the new-look Jerra has been designed with exactly that in mind. Highlights of the renovation include:
- A new kids’ playground and dedicated family zone
- A rebuilt kitchen and bistro serving pub classics, including 48-hour dough pizza, Bindaree NSW steak and a half-kilo schnitzel
- A kids’ menu from $11 for members, with a drink included
- A rebuilt sports bar for sport and racing
- An enclosed, re-paved beer garden with a raised wind wall
- A refreshed gaming room
- A drive-through bottle shop with a new order-and-pay window, click and collect, boot service and trading until midnight
The Jerra is Harvest’s second major pub renovation this year, following The Crown Inn’s $2 million transformation in Old Reynella in May. For a look at the works in progress, see our Jerrabomberra renovation update.
