The Courthouse Hotel, Tamworth is embracing the chill this July and inviting locals and travellers to experience the magic of winter in the New England North West. From Friday 4 to Monday 28 July, The Courthouse – owned by hospitality investment manager and operator Harvest Hotels – will transform the upper level of its outdoor beer garden into an ice-skating rink, launching the pub’s first ever winter wonderland themed event.
Coinciding with the school holidays, this month-long celebration offers fun for all ages, combining ice skating adventures, movies under the stars, dedicated parties, live music, winter-inspired food and drinks, and festive vibes to light up the cooler season. It has been designed and timed to offer locals a fun activity, while also giving visitors -whether they’re in Tamworth for a day of jobs or looking for a school holidays trip – a reason to rally family and friends, visit the Tamworth region, or extend their stay.
“Winter tends to be a quieter time of year, and the community goes into a bit of hibernation,” said Harvest’s NSW Operations Manager Luke Rosie. “We wanted to celebrate the season and create a reason for locals and visitors to get out, rug up, and enjoy something fun, fresh, and a little different.”
“Whether you’re a local family, a group of mates, a community group, or a traveller looking for a getaway, Winter Wonderland will offer something for everyone,” added Luke.
Winter Wonderland Line Up:
- Ice Skating Rink : Open daily from 11am – 8pm, the rink will accommodate up to 15 skaters per 30-minute session. Tickets are $10 per person and can be booked via The Courthouse website. Skates included BYO socks.
- Free Kids’ Face Painting – Saturday 5 July : Kick off the Winter Wonderland festivities with free, winter-themed face painting for kids.
- Family-Friendly Outdoor Movie Nights – Every Wednesday : Bring a blanket and pull up a beanbag every Wednesday evening at 6pm for a free movie screening of winter-themed family classics, under the stars. Popcorn and drinks available for purchase.
- Viper Creek Band for Hats Off To Country – Saturday 12 July : As part of Tamworth’s Hats Off to Country music festival, The Courthouse will welcome Viper Creek Band to the Winter Wonderland stage for a night of great live country music.
- Winter Retro Party – Saturday 19 July: Don’t miss the opportunity to rug up in your best retro ski inspired attire and party the night away with your mates as if you were on the slops. DJs will be spinning remixes from the 80’s & 90’s until all hours and pub prizes to be won for best dressed.
- Winter-Inspired Food & Drinks : Enjoy a delicious range of hearty winter specials, from mulled wine and snow cones to rich, warming meals to suit the season.
Plus, all regular weekly specials, activity and live music will continue alongside the Wonderland festivities throughout July.
