Harvest Hospitality last night celebrated the relaunch of the Crown Inn in Old Reynella, following a $2 million renovation that has transformed the pub into a more functional and welcoming local for the community.
The renovation touched every corner of the pub, from the bistro through to the front bar and façade. Key upgrades include:
-
Bistro expansion adding 60 seats, created by repurposing part of the existing gaming footprint
-
Reactivation and enhancement of outdoor dining areas
-
Renovated sports bar with upgraded AV and increased seating capacity
-
Refreshed finishes, furniture, signage and branding throughout
The food and beverage offering has also been refreshed, with a curated wine list focused on South Australian producers, alongside pub classics and premium options designed to appeal across a broad demographic.
The repositioning reflects Harvest Hospitality’s broader strategy of unlocking long-term value through targeted capital investment and operational improvements that strengthen multiple revenue streams.
Harvest Hospitality Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer Fraser Haughton said the renovation was about evolution, not reinvention.
“The Crown Inn already had strong community connection and support, so the opportunity wasn’t to reinvent the pub, it was to evolve it thoughtfully to better serve locals across multiple occasions. Whether you’re coming in for a family dinner, a big game, or just a casual midweek drink, there’s now a space that works for you.
“Importantly, the charm and character that has made it a favourite for generations hasn’t changed,” he said.
To mark the occasion, Harvest hosted an intimate community event bringing together locals, VIP members, builders, suppliers and local government. Adelaide sporting icon Graham Cornes, a former Reynella Football Club player with a longstanding connection to the pub, also joined the celebrations to pour the first ceremonial beer.
Harvest Hospitality Co-Founder and Group CEO Chris Cornforth said the relaunch is a strong example of the group’s value-add strategy in action.
“We believe great pubs are built on strong fundamentals: consistency, familiarity, great service and genuine community connection,” Mr Cornforth said.
“The Crown Inn is exactly the kind of asset we look for: a pub with strong foundations, located in a growing community, with the potential to create additional value through thoughtful investment and the right operational focus. We’re excited about this next chapter for The Crown, and we think the community will love it.”
The Crown Inn redevelopment is the latest in a series of capital works projects across Harvest Hospitality’s portfolio.
